Coordinator - Elite Performance


Canada Basketball is the national sport governing body for amateur basketball in Canada. Located in Toronto, Canada Basketball (www.basketball.ca) is a private, not-for-profit corporation that is committed to the growth of the sport in Canada. Just as important, Canada Basketball is focused on the development and preparation of Canada’s national teams for the Olympic; Pan American and FISU Games as well as the World Championships. The aspiration of Canada Basketball is to instil the pride, commitment, passion and respect that Canadians personify into the development of basketball across the country and internationally.

Reporting to the Managers – Men’s & Women’s Elite Performance, the successful candidate’s primary mandate is to plan, coordinate, implement and execute programming and logistical details within the elite performance programs. The Elite Performance programs include tasks associated with the administration and operation of the targeted athlete and targeted coach strategy (TAS / TCS), Centre’s for/de Performance program, men’s and women’s national team programs and any other such activity that is developed to enhance elite athlete development.

Key Attributes
The Coordinator - Elite Performance must possess the following attributes:
· Professional experience in sports administration and/or a post secondary degree in sports management or equivalent.
· Knowledge of the Canadian sport system and the international and national basketball environments.
· Administratively sound and detailed oriented, with strong organization and interpersonal skills.
· Fluent in the use of Microsoft Office.
· Able to multi-task and prioritize appropriately in a fast paced environment.
· Able to work independently, maintain tight schedules and work flexible hours in a dynamic and service oriented team environment.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Able to manage people to satisfactorily execute program requirements.
· Presents a professional image dealing with coaches, athletes and other stakeholders.

Term: 12 Month Contract (December 1, 2009 – December 1, 2010)

Remuneration: Commensurate with experience
